Powdery mildew: Vine disease caused by a fungus which develops an external mycelium on the leaves, bunches and twigs, and which we combat by spraying with wet sulphur.

mildew: name given to various cryptogamic diseases of plants, due to fungi and especially observed on the leaves, on the underside of which appears a fine white, grey or purplish fluff.
oenology: The science which aims to study wine. (It sets out to understand grapes and wines by analysing their constituents and the chemical and biological phenomena within them. It studies the transformation of grapes into wine, as well as wine storage.)
